Packing!

No, we aren’t yet, but exciting things are happening. They are packing the container with the generator to get it ready to send to Zimba. This will be the generator that will be installed at the Zimba Mission Hospital to supply the entire facility with electricity. There is still a little more money that needs to be raised for it, but thing are moving forward. Praise the Lord! Thank you to everyone who helped this happen. It will be a huge blessing to the hospital.

April has been a little slower month where traveling is concerned, but we are gearing up for 6 more weeks on the road. In a couple of weeks, we take off back down the road and will return to Wisconsin again in July.

Thank you for your continued faithful support. We are getting very anxious about returning to Zambia. We are confident we will meet our goal of returning in July.

Sharing

We shared in both morning services at the Stone Lake Wesleyan. Then we shared a wonderful meal with the congregation. We enjoyed our fellowship with them.

A couple of weeks ago, Sel flew to Brooklyn, NY and visited the First Wesleyan Church. She shared in both Sunday School and the main service. Afterwards, she shared a wonderful meal of Carribean cuisine with the pastors and missions board. It was a fun weekend.

Jes preached at the Safe Harbour Church and the Darrow Road Wesleyan Church this month as he works towards his ordination.

Down the Road & Back Again

Greetings from Wisconsin once again. Spring has arrived and we are thankful for good driving conditions and beautiful, mild days. We just spent five weeks on the road. We were in New York state, Pennsylvania, Ontario, and Maine. We will be home for April and will travel to different churches on the weekends. See our schedule below.

Thank you for your continued faithful support. We are getting very anxious about returning to Zambia. We are confident we will meet our goal of returning in July.

Women of Faith

While we were visiting the Summit Hill Wesleyn Church, Sel was invited to be a part of their Women of Faith Retreat. Jes stayed with Pastor Ken and had a good time with him. The retreat was a great time of fellowship, laughter, and learning. Friday evening we did short, funny skits and played games. On Saturday, we went through the study, When Women Say Yes to God. This study made me think of many different ways we need to be obedient; that, even though we said yes to Zambia and our ministry there, there are daily yes’es we need to be saying to God.

Hitting the Road

Hitting the Road

Greetings from the finally snowy north. We are finally getting some snow accumulating, although we are thankful that there isn’t much of winter left for it too stay long. It has been nice to be able to come back to home base during the week, but tomorrow we are hitting the road again. This time for five weeks before returning home. We’ll be in New York state, Pennsylvania, Ontario, and Maine and get back to Wisconsin just in time for the Easter celebrations.

Thank you for your continued faithful support. We are getting very anxious about returning to Zambia. Things are moving forward at the Zimba Mission Hospital.

Sharing & Connecting

We had the privilege of sharing at another Wisconsin district church plant this month. On February 5, we shared with Transformation City Church in Milwaukee. Jes had been there years ago when they were meeting in a movie theatre. Since then they have purchased a building and have a permanent home. It was great to be able to visit the church and see how they have made it their own.

The following week we had the privilege of visiting Cascades Wesleyan in Jackson, MI. Sel had shared at a women’s retreat they had at a community centre nearby, but this was our first visit to the church. Then we went next door to Eaton Rapids Wesleyan and share in the evening service that day. It was humbling as they showered us with gifts as a belated wedding shower. The entire day was spent with friends and familiar faces and we enjoyed our time with both churches very much!

We also had the privilege of having lunch with the pastor and missions board of The River Church in Minong, WI. We were able to meet the board for the first time and share about the work in Zambia. It was a relaxed atmosphere and the fellowship was great.

Prayer Requests

- For the work of the Zimba Mission Hospital and the staff that serve the community
- For the Zambian church as they reach out to fellow Zambians
- For continued safety as we travel

News From the Field

Greetings from only the semi frozen north. So far this winter has been very pleasant and unexpectedly mild. This is good for those of us who are not so used to winter nowadays. ;)

Thank you for your continued faithful support. We are getting anxious about returning to Zambia. Things are moving forward at the Zimba Mission
Hospital.

Chapel services are now taking place in the new chapel building.

The staff are slowly moving into the new outpatient department building.

Sharing & Connecting

We spent the month putting things in order so we could start traveling again.
As January comes to a close, we have begun our spring traveling schedule. On the 29th of January, we spoke at The Fountain Church. The two of us spoke for a few minutes in the service and then Selinda did a show and tell time with the children. We were very well received and we enjoyed our time with the church.

Directly after the service, we headed to the Wisconsin District pastor’s retreat. We connected again with many of the same pastors we had met with last fall. It was fun to renew acquaintances and see some old friends.

As February comes we have a short week to get ready for our next sharing in Milwaukee at Transformation City Church.

You Can Make Change!

Pocket change adds up quickly, even just pennies. Children can do this and it’s amazing how excited they get knowing they are supporting missions. One church supports us with change collected by the Sunday School classes and the children are excited to put their pennies in the jar. Seeds are also being planted for future partners in missions and missionaries. People can support missionaries just by making change!

Prayer Requests

- Funding for the installation of the hospital generator

Joy to the World!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

We pray the Christmas season was one of celebration with friends and family of the peace and joy God's Son came to bring, as it says in Isaiah 9:6-7.

"6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7(a) His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity."

December gave us a little break from the road as well as some much needed time with family. Although we met with a pastor and missions director, that was nearby. We are thankful for this time of rest! It was very much needed. We are refreshed and ready to hit the road again in January.

While we have been home, Jesse has had a job cutting firewood and I have been helping on the worship team playing piano at the Darrow Road Wesleyan Church.

All of Jesse's family was here at the beginning of the month (his brother's family lives in another state) and so we had many fun times together. We went on a horse-drawn wagon ride and also took all the kids ice fishing.

On Christmas eve, we all opened gifts, had supper, and then went to the candle light service that evening. After the morning service on Christmas day, we had dinner with some of Jesse's extended family and spent the afternoon playing games, laughing, and opened our tin can gifts everyone made. It was a good time.

We are praying for each of our team members; praying for God's blessing be on you for your part on this team. We can't do it without our team! Thank you!!

Sharing, Fishing, and Home Again

Merry Christmas!! We pray that this update finds you warm from the cold, safe from the snow, and in anticipation for the coming birthday celebration.

We thank you so much for your support. It is greatly appreciated. You are a valued part of our team and we pray for blessing on you and your families!

Technology is great... when it works. We apologize that this letter comes to you late. Just before Thanksgiving something in our computer burnt out. I was working on it and all of a sudden the screen went black and I smelled something burnt. We are still waiting for a new one to use.

Sharing

We had the opportunity to spend a weekend with the Norton Wesleyan Church for their missions conference. On Saturday we shared with the youth and had a wonderful banquet, followed by a chance to share with everyone. Sunday morning we shared again with the church. They also called missionaries in Albania. It was a great time!

We also shared in a combined service with the Seal Cove Baptist Church and Seal Cove Wesleyan Church. It's always good to be able to come home and share. We also enjoyed a wonderful international dinner following the service.

The Green Horn

November in my (Sel) family is the month lobster fishing season begins. Everywhere bustles with activity and fishermen make the final preparations. Everyone is anxious and excited. It marks the beginning of some income, but is also a dangerous time.

Jes had a chance to experience lobster fishing and all that goes on that
time of year. We attended the fisherman's Sunday service with prayer for all those going out that Tuesday. On Monday morning we helped tag and load traps on the boat. At the end of the day, the fleet was loaded heavy; waiting for sun rise the next morning.

In the days following, Jes had his hands in bait, passing traps, banding lobsters, in the lobster box, and once in a lobster's claw; all while getting his sea legs under him. It was all new to him. He didn't even get sea sick and was a great help! He's no longer a green horn.

Our Schedule

We are now home in Wisconsin. Neither one of us is enjoying the cold weather much, but it is good to be home and a part of a community again. We have a couple of meetings with pastors coming up soon and are spending the Christmas season in Wisconsin with family. We begin sharing again in January and our schedule is filling up. There will be many more miles traveled in 2012 before July!

Current Support

We only have 18% left to raise. That's the equivalent to 51 people giving $25/month or 13 churches giving $100/month.

Prayer Requests

- For the sick and dying in Zambia and the people working to help them
- That we would be able to get some much needed rest
- For continued safety as we begin to travel again in January

We've Been Everywhere!

Greetings to you from the meandering missionaries. We pray that this update
finds you well even with the weather turning cold and fall in full
swing. We thank you so much for your support. It is greatly
appreciated. You are a valued part of our team!

October saw us anywhere from Wisconsin to Newfoundland with many stops
in between. We have had wonderful stays and visits in Battle Creek, MI, in
Camden, NY, St. John’s, NL, and Havelock, NS. We've met many neat people and had several opportunities to share what God is doing in Zambia.

A new opportunity for the both of us was we got to be on the radio.
Mars Hill Network, out of Syracuse, NY wanted to do an interview with us about the work in Zambia. We were both a little nervous, but once we got to the studio the staff helped us relax and the interview went without a hitch. It was a great time.

The children at the Solid Rock Wesleyan Church in Newfoundland are saving pennies to feed hungry children in Africa. Their goal was 52,000 pennies. One child asked what happens if they go over their goal. The answer was they can feed more children. People have taken that to heart. Their total was 85,200 pennies, plus what was collected that day and there was more to come!

Isaiah 40:30-31

When we get weary of being on the road so much, God seems to bring us to
this passage in Isaiah 40, verses 30-31, “Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will

renew their strength. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and
not be faint.” God gives us strength and provides what we need to keep on.
We all need to hear this from time to time. Be encouraged today and lean
on God.

Thank You For Praying!

Thank you so much for your prayers as we travel. On our way to Halifax, as we came around the bend in the road, I saw some movement and slammed on the brakes. There was a moose standing right in the middle of the road.
However, instead of getting out of the way, the moose just trotted down the road in front of us like we were not there. We followed it for 10 or 15 minutes before it decided to go off into the woods. There is always something new out here on the road.

Prayer Requests

- The sick and dying in Zambia
- For continued safety as we travel
- That we would meet the people
God wants to be on our team
